The Grapevine Online will be emailed, depending on the amount of information sent to the editor, every month. It will have a couple of sections (when information is available), namely, Class Notes (your basic information on alumni babies, weddings, jobs, etc.), Alumni Profiles (more in-depth information on certain alumni), Calendar of Events, and Links to various recent stories about Christendom College and/or the Alumni of Christendom.

Class notes

Daniel and Agnes (Curley) Penny (Class of 1997) had baby #2 on Jan. 20, 2001, Loretta Elizabeth. They had baby #1 on Nov. 5, 1999, Maria Veronica. Daniel is teaching theology at Allentown Central Catholic High School in Allentown, PA.

Gervase and Katie (McNally) Thompson had a baby boy, Gervase Michael, on March 24, 2001.

Stephanie Granger ('98?) will be getting married to Abe Weaver in Augusta, GA in May!

Nick and Marguerite (Provenzano) Murphy are expecting Murph #6 in June of 2002.

Joanne Fields entered the Carmelite Monastery in Lake Elmo, Minnesota on 23 September 2001 to discern her vocation as a cloistered Carmelite nun. She reports it is hard but she is 'deep down happy'!

Kate (Murrell-'98) Pride was married to Joe Pride Sep. 8, 2001 and is expecting a baby the end of June 2002. They live in Augusta, GA. Kate is working at Catholic Stewardship Consultants, and we are servicing the Arch. of Washington, among statewide parishes. She is a writer for the monthly stewardship newsletters.

Christopher Young just began his second semester at Ave Maria School of Law, in Ann Arbor. Also, his brother Gabriel ('01) is in his class...as are Andrea Hale, Kevin
Gerrity, Angela Pfister, Sabrina Chester
(not sure of graduation years for those folks).

David McBee was promoted in November to the rank of Knight Commander in the Order of the Holy Sepulchre.

Julie (Asam) Monette and Stephen Monette (brother of Christendom student, Anne Monette) were married October 20th, 2001, at St. Stanislaus parish in Rochester,NY and are temporarily living near Groton, Connecticut's, Navy submarine base, where Stephen is currently stationed. Julie has a new email address: juliemonette@catholicexchange.com.

Donald Joseph Kelly was born May 30, 2001, 7lbs 13oz., to Jim and Ellen (Storey) Kelly.

Christopher Smith '99 is currently in his lectorate year at the Pontifical Roman Major Seminary, the papal seminary at St John Lateran in Rome, is in second theology at the Gregorian and is studying for the Diocese of Charleston, South Carolina. He will soon
be vested as a novice in the Third Order of Canons Regular of Premontre. Best wishes to Class of 99!

Mary Rohan recently married Henry Wingate on September 8, 2001. They are expecting a baby on June 10, 2002. Mary Wingate, Route 2 Box 68, Madison, Virginia 22727

John Issigonis lives in Calgary, at the base of the rockies. Scenery and skiing among the best in the world. He teaches for Calgary Catholic School Division, loving every minute of it. Junior high, also coaching basketball. What has he been up to recently? He finished classwork for Bachelor of Education in February, 2001 at Brandon University. Then off to Mexico for two months, teaching at a private Catholic school in Torreon. Then to Leeds, England for a three-month teaching stint. Next stop, Greece; basically touring and living it up on the beach for two months. Finally, off to Senegal, West Africa, interning as an education policy analyst for UNESCO. And now - Calgary. There it is in a nutshell.

Doug ('83) & Nancy (Popik) Briggs ('82) celebrated the arrival of their eighth child, Mary Fiona McHugh Briggs, on November 15th.

Erin Steenson and Lisa Kirchner have moved to Alexandria, VA and Lisa is working as an editor for a contractor for the FAA in D.C.

Dan Miller, spouse: Debbi. Children: Brianna (11), Stephen (10), Christopher (6), Nathan (2). Employer: Diebold, Inc. - Technician. Fun: Co-founder, current Board of Trustees President Holy Cross Academy, grades 7-12. Como se llama? Rock; Rock Llama

Kelly (Kuhn) Shininger and husband Doug had a new baby boy (second child) on November 19, 2001 and named him Eric Michael Shininger.

Amy Guettler and Patrick Zuberbueler were married November 24, 2001 at St. Helen Catholic Church in Vero Beach, FL. Patrick received a promotion with Lord and Taylor. He manages three departments and is part of the management training team at Lord and Taylor in Fair Oaks Mall.

Emily (Foushee) and Ted Eidem (Both class of 2000) want to joyfully announce the birth of their daughter, Mary Cecilia Eidem, born on September 14, 2001 at 3:01pm. 10 lbs. 2oz. 21 1/4 inches.

 

 

 

Edmond Micucci, the third of that name. He has finished one and one half years at Creighton University School of Law and has another one and one half years left. Law school is three years long. He shall graduate in May 2003. This is in Omaha, Nebraska, by the way. Nothing more really to tell.

Hi! I just wanted to let you know that I got engaged to Deo W. Read III on New Years Eve and we are planning a wedding sometime this fall. Thanks! Ann Marie Popielarz (class of '99)

Anna Wright ('00) and Greg Polley ('00) are engaged to be married in June of 2002.

Mike and Kathy (Harrigan) Foeckler and Bennett and Mary Beth (Harrigan) Ellis celebrated their 10th Wedding Anniversaries on December 29, 2001.

Chris and Michelle (Belleville) Kopeck had another little Kopeck on December 17, 2001. It was a girl, named Claudia. An interesting note is that the Kopecks have six children, two of which were born on December 22 and two of which were born on December 17, all different years.

Mike Blackmer married a young lady named Maria last Summer. They live happily ever after in Ohio.

Maria Gaetano (graduated this past December) has taken on the position of Editorial Assistant at the Arlington Catholic Herald.

Epiphany Party 2002

On Saturday night, January 5, 2002, 47 alumni returned to their Alma Mater to enjoy fellowship, food, and fine drinks at the 2002 Alumni Epiphany Party, held in the Regina Coeli Building at Christendom.

Organized by the Christendom College Alumni Associtation's Board of Directors, the Epiphany Party has become a welcome tradition for area alumni during the Christmas Season.

With suggested donations of $5 per person, $550 was raised towards the Alumni Scholarship Fund. Special thanks and recognition go to Anna Wright and Greg Polley for their efforts with this event. And to Walter Janaro for providing the music for the evening. and last, but not least, to Erica Quest for her help in cleaning up at the end of the night.

The next Alumni gathering is scheduled for January 20th at the 4 P's Pub in Falls Church, Virginia.
