submitted for publication in The Grapevine.
The
Grapevine Online is uploaded on the First Friday of every
month. It will have a couple of sections (when information
is available), namely, Class Notes (your basic information
on alumni babies, weddings, jobs, etc.), Calendar of Events,
and Links to various recent stories about Christendom
College and/or the Alumni of Christendom.

Jamie
(Dresch) '04 and Craig Spiering had a little boy,
Joseph Benedict on March 16. Young Joseph held out as long
as he could (one more day and his name would have been Patrick,)
but he succumbed to gravity and the Spiering heir was born.
Katy
(Jenkins) Hochschild '05 and her husband Adam have
welcomed a new member into the family: a puppy! The 4 month-old
Argos (how well do you know your Odyssey?) is a hybrid of
Golden Retriever and Standard Poodle, commonly called a Goldendoodle,
although this one happens not to be golden. The Hochschilds
also hope to welcome another new member into their family
come late August: a special hybrid
of
their own. Finally, they are excited about their trip to Rome
at the end of April and the beginning of May. The week-long
trip is the second installment of their honeymoon--now a baby-moon!
During their stay they plan to visit Christina Denton
'05, and will undoubtedly run into other Christendom
alumni and students as well.
Derek
Rogers and Bethany Zuniga will be thrilled to be
back on Christendom
soil on Saturday, April 22nd at 8 p.m. They will be gracing
the new Pope John Paul the Great Student Center as Grey
Sled. As a couple they have been writing songs, performing,
and recording ever since their meeting in the famous music
room at St. Augustine's. We encourage all those who have been
wondering where they have been to come to the Student Center
on April 22nd, find out what this crazy couple has been up
to! Admission is free, so bring a friend. Grey Sled's CD's
will also be availiable at this event.
Mary
Theresa (Mead) and Joe Sayler with twins Monica (left)
and Mary (right), one month old. Or is it Mary (left) and
Monica (right)? I'm really not certain, but I'm sure the Saylers
know the truth of it. Congratulations!
If any
alumni have pictures of Mike Hilleary when he had a
mullet, please e-mail the photo to him at michael_hilleary@yahoo.com.
Apparently none of the Marines he works with believe that
he had one. Hilleary also ran into Fred Fraser at a
bluegrass concert in Dallas recenty, and reports that he and
his wife are still doing fine.
After
spending 4 months at St. Mary' Oratory, the Institute Apostolate
in Wausau WI, Jimmy Blankenhsip '05 has been
moved to the Institute's American Headquaters in Chicago.
He will stay there until he beings seminary at Gricigliano
Italy in the fall. If anyone happens to be in the Chicago
area and wants a beautiful Mass or simply to see a fellow
Christendomite, stop by.
A
little girl, Theresa Joan Hambleton was born to David and
Mary (Accettullo) Hambleton '05 on Wednesday, March
22nd at 10:20 p.m., despite almost everyone's predictions
of a boy. Everything went very well and Mary, David and Theresa
are all doing wonderfully.
The
lads of Scythian
(Alex and Daniel Fedoryka and company) made it onto
Hardball with Chris Matthews on St. Paddy's Day. Some deem
their music politically offensive and Matthews wanted to discuss.
;-) No, actually, there was no talking involved, just playing.
Scythian played an event the night before where Chris Matthews
was emcee and Matthews thought it would be nice to use footage
of the Lads before he cut to a commercial break. Thanks for
the plug Chris!
Sherry
Spring, Bryan Hadro and Jeff Sciscilo recently
visited the International Man of Leisure (Roma edition) Niall
O'Donnell. They all ran around, up, and down ruins along
the Appian Way with Stacey Spring and Fadi,
basked in the glorious Roman sun at Villa Dora Pamphilli with
Tom Carroll and the Denton sisters, and ate
very very well. Our special Grapevine Online Rome correspondent
was covering a separate story on assignment, when he happened
to photograph Bryan, Jeff, Sherry, and Niall while they were
pondering the meaning of life, the universe and everything
on the Spanish Steps (see photo above). Mark Streiff
also visited Niall recently, and during their reunion in Rome
they were living it up just like the old days in the Basement
of St. Frans. Cosanostra! The spirit of lil Calabria
was brought to life again in Rome. Viva la Famiglia!
Nat
and Liz (Hendricks) Lloyd just wanted to share
a picture with everyone of Isabel on her birthday. She turned
one on March 7. "I can't believe she is already one,
how fast little ones grow! But I must say, I think she is
still so adorable (being the proud parent and all)!"
The
Grapevine Online's special romance correspondent-at-large,
reports that Claire Jensen, who at one time was possibly
dating Kiefer Sutherland (see The
Grapevine Online,
Nov 2003), is in love with the alumnus formerly known
as the International Man of Leisure, Marc-Pierre Jansen.
The truth of this was revealed when The Grapevine Online
accidentally printed Marc-Pierre Jansen's name last month
as Marc-Pierre Jensen. A few hours after this mistake,
Claire was overheard by our special romance correspondent-at-large
as saying, "There is no relation between the Long Islanders
and the Canadian transplant. [Marc-Pierre] is a Jansen,
not a Jensen. . . . However, there were several times
during our college years when I did have to enlighten some
who assumed we were siblings. Silly people thought my own
brother was busting me for [various rule infractions etc.]
I repeat, there is no close blood relation. We are free to
be married." There you have it. Hopefully we will read
more about this budding romance in future issues of The
Grapevine Online.
