Ken
('05) and Alaina Furlong ('04) would like to announce
the birth of their daughter, Claire Lillian. She was born
April 18 and weighed 6 lbs 11 oz. Kenneth, Jr. is adjusting
well to his big brother status. Claire was baptized on May
17 at St. John the Baptist in Front Royal by Fr. O' Kielty.
The happy parents with Claire Lillian are pictured on the
left. Alex and Ashley Scrivener ('05) are her wonderful
godparents.
Jake
Minick ('06) graduated from the Charlotte School of Law
in May. He was elected by his fellow graduates to give the
student graduation speech, in which he reminded those graduating
that the practice of law is a public service: "Let us
be the protectors of the poor, the abused, the physically
and mentally handicapped, and most especially those little
ones who have no voice at all." Jake is currently living
with his wife, Laura, and daughter, Natalie, in Charlotte
where he is studying for the N.C. Bar Exam.
Memorial
Day Weekend was a blast for Nate and Jess (Ciesla) Schuetz
('06) because they got to meet up with Chris ('06)
and Katie (Pondo) Lancaster ('07) and celebrate the weekend
in St. Augustines, Florida! It was a fun-filled weekend which
included battling a rain storm their first day there, some
competitive putt-putt, a theatrical ghost tour, lots of food,
visiting the oldest church in America and Our Lady of Leche
shrine, and of course relaxing at the beach! St. Augustines
is the oldest city in America so if you havent been there
they highly recommend it!
It
has taken a few years, but people have finally realized how
awesome Nebraska is and have started visiting with a little
more frequency. Theresa Fer ('03) managed to leave
tear herself away from Hollywood to visit Tim and Leah
Coffey ('02,'03) early in May. She spent the majority
of the trip reading childrens books to the kids, but the old
friends snuck in a couple of quiet conversations at the end
of the day. The Coffey's are eagerly awaiting a visit by the
Klassen family later this month.
Daniel
and Agnes (Curley) Penny (both '97) are happy to announce
the birth of the seventh child, Boethius Daniel. He was born
on May 19th and weighed 8 lbs, 8 oz. His excited siblings
are shown here with him on his baptism: Maria, 9, Loretta,
8, Victoria, 6, Athanasius, 5, Carmella, 3, and Aquinas, 1
1/2 years. Both mom and baby are doing very well.
Ann
Schneible ('04) is just getting ready to complete her
second semester at the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross
in Rome, where she is studying for her licenza in Social Communications.
She has ten finals altogether (two of which she already finished),
so any and all prayers in her general direction would be greatly
appreciated! All things considered, though, she could not
be part of a better group of people than her class here at
Santa Croce, and she feels truly blessed. Please pray that
everything continues to go well for her!
From
Bethany Sargis ('03): We have just started an on-line
community for Alumni, Faculty and Friends of Seton School!
It's time for everyone to join! Won't it be great to have
a database of everyone in the Seton Community so you can:
reconnect with old friends, make new friends (maybe) and business
connections, share stories of how Seton has impacted your
life, keep up with Seton news, support the school, join us
for the 1st annual Seton Reunion Gala and Alumni Picnic! You
can't beat those reasons to join! Please tell everyone you
know in the Seton Community to go to our website to register
at http://www.OurSeton.org
It will have instructions to set up your account so you are
in the database, and you will be able to start participating
in our on-line community. You can also register for the 1st
annual Seton Reunion Gala at the Waterford at Fair Oaks on
June 12th!
David
and Elizabeth Wallace ('05) celebrated their son's first
birthday in April. Augustine was surrounded by Christendom
alumni and professors alike as they partied on Skyline Drive.
Grandma and Grandpa Rice, Dr. and Mrs. Flippen, Uncle Greg
Rice ('97), Uncle James Rice ('00), Aunt Mary
(Cammack) Rice ('99), and honorary Uncle Steve Kunath
('04) were all in attendance. David and Elizabeth are
also happy to announce that baby #2 will be making its grand
entrance into the world at Christmas time!
Elizabeth
Black ('07) and Sylvia Smith ('06) toured England
for one glorious week! They went primarily to London and Oxford,
with the picture of the two of them on the left from Primrose
Hill, commanding a view of the London skyline. They also saw
other amazing sites, including Wells Cathedral (Lizzie is
standing in front of part of the wall looking very excited)
and the Cotswolds (Sylvia is standing in a field near Chipping
Camden with a bunch of sheep!). They give England five stars
as a vacation spot, not only for the beauty of the land and
the architecture but also because the people were very friendly.
Cheers!
