Welcome to Christendom's Alumni E-Zine. If you have information that you would like to share with your fellow alumni, send it to the Grapevine Editor, Marie Antunes, at marieantunes@christendom.edu. The editor reserves the right to include or exclude any information submitted for publication in The Grapevine.

The Grapevine Online is uploaded on the First Friday of every month. It will have a couple of sections (when information is available), namely, Class Notes (your basic information on alumni babies, weddings, jobs, etc.), Calendar of Events, and Links to various recent stories about Christendom College and/or the Alumni of Christendom.

Class notes

Corey and Maria (Hepler) Morgan ('07) just welcomed twins into their family. John Thomas and Peter Benedict were born on May 14th weighing 6 lb 12 oz and 7 lb 2 oz. Sophia Grace turned two years old on the 16th and loves being a big sister. She is always asking to hold the babies. Corey recently accepted a new job up in Northwestern PA and will be starting the beginning of July.

Joe and Emily (Griswold) Sparks ('07) happily welcomed their first child into the world on April 15th. Joseph Scott Sparks weighed 8lbs. 3oz. and arrived at 3:30p.m. The munchkin was baptized on May 1st, the Feast of St. Joseph the Worker, with his Aunt Martha Griswold and Uncle Jason Sparks as godparents.

Jimmy Blankenship ('05) is checking in after years of silence. For the past few years he has been working with his brother building a small legal services company, providing a multitude of services to the legal community of Northern Virginia. The bulk of the work is serving Subpoenas, Warrents, Summonses, and other like court documents. He has traveled far and wide in the great Commonwealth putting over 150,000 mile on his car in 4 years. He has survived inclement weather (the snowpocalypse), dog bites, a host of angry litigants and being put on the witness stand a couple of times. He has served many notable people including Washington Redskin's Gary Clark, Rock Cartwright, and Fred Davis and Washington Wizzard Gilbert Arenas. As if this wasn't exciting enough, he just recently applied to and was accepted for a degree program at the College of Court Reporting. Hopefully in two years he will be a certified Court Reporter who can type in excess of 225 wpm.

Katrina (Ruminski) Lauzon ('05) and her husband Michael are overjoyed to announce the arrival of their daughter Rosalind Joy on April 23, also the birthday of Shakespeare. Rosalind arrived bright and early at 5:54 a.m., weighing 6 lbs. 6 oz. and measuring 18.9 inches. Thank you to everyone for the many prayers!

Jackie Belle-Oudry and Nick Akhurst were married on May 22 at St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Phoenix, AZ, in a beautiful ceremony in which many other alumni were present. Please keep them in your prayers as they start out of their new life together!

Tim and Leah Coffey would like to announce the birth of Katharine Therese Coffey. Born May 12th weighing in at a healthy 9 lbs 1 oz. She has only been alive a week and has watched more Yankee games than their first three kids combined. They look forward to her baptism as she will be the first of of the Coffey Clan to be baptised by Leah's brother Father Tony Stephens.

This may be old news, but because it is still noteworthy news, and that it what this Grapevine is all about, it will be included in this June edition of updates on the lives of our alumni. A Lafayette, IN alum, Matthew Arnett ('07) recently made his alma mater proud by winning a bacon eating contest! He not only made the local news channel with this story, but he also made it to CNN.com! It was a difficult contest, and there were probably times when Matt didn't think he would finish, but our graduate of the liberal arts discipline knew what to do in times of hardship: buckle down and get the job done. Ben Hatke ('00) feels that it's time to announce that his first graphic novel, Zita the Spacegirl: Far From Home, will be released this winter. This is the first of two Zita the Spacegirl books, written and illustrated by Ben, and published by First Second books. The book is close to 200 pages and chock full of aliens, robots, magic and a giant mouse. For updates about the book you can visit Ben's art blog at:

In other news, Ben and Anna (Bertolini) Hatke continue to raise their three daughters, Angelica (7), Zita(4) and Julia(2) in the wilds of Virginia where, it seems, there is a growing population of foxes.
