Purpose
Christianity
is unique in its affirmation of the goodness of material creation especially
the goodness of the human body, which is the" Temple of The Holy
Spirit" and thus should be treated with respect and care. At Christendom,
the athletic program seeks to complement the College's higher goal of
the moral and intellectual perfection of man. As a member of The United
States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA), Christendom fields intercollegiate
teams in both men and women's soccer and basketball as well as men's baseball
and women's softball. In addition, the Crusaders are members of the Shenandoah-Chesapeake
Conference (SCC). Other colleges participating in the SCC are Roanoke,
Patrick Henry, and Washington Bible. The athletic department maintains
facilities and equipment to support a variety of student interests, such
as tennis, racquetball, handball, soccer, basketball, volleyball, baseball,
softball, weightlifting, archery, and fencing. Plans are currently underway
to establish a crew program, which would make use of the beautiful Shenandoah
River that adjoins the campus.
