Donate to the Haitian Relief Fund

The Haitian Relief Fund is a student initiative aimed at providing relief to the victims of the recent earthquake in Haiti.

All proceeds will be donated to the St. Francis of Assisi Mission in Banica of the Dominican Republic, located on the Haitian border. The funds will be used to purchase relief supplies (blankets, food, water, and medical supplies).

The St. Francis of Assisi Mission is a mission of the Catholic Diocese of Arlington.

We are no longer acepting donations.

Thank you to everyone who donated!

The Haitian Relief is being organized by Outreach, a student club which seeks to put faith into action through corporal works of mercy.

Outreach will be hosting a fundraising concert on campus featuring Christendom's own talented musicians on Saturday, January 30 at 8 p.m.at St. Kilian's Cafe. Tickets for the concert that will feature country, folk, and Irish music can be purchased at the door for $5.

"Though the devastation of this earthquake has created serious obstacles for countless people, it has also created an opportunity—an opportunity to act in a spirit of service and charity. In the midst of what may seem to be darkness, we must respond to the call to give—both spiritually through our prayers and materially through any contribution—big or small.

"Through a donation you are contributing to an effort that can turn despair into hope. In the words of Mother Teresa, 'Not all of us can do great things. But we can all do small things with great love.'

"Not only should we offer our continual prayers, but we should also offer any contribution of aid to these people who are presently struggling to survive amidst rubble and turmoil—people who are battling hunger and hopelessness caused by the deaths of loved ones and the deprivation of their basic necessities: food, water, shelter, and clothing."

-Sarah Miranda, Class of 2010

"I had the incredible experience of visiting Haiti in the summer of 2008. I saw their poverty first hand and even visited a medical clinic. They needed our help before the earthquake and now their needs are only rising. 70,000 have already died and the numbers are rising every day with every aftershock. We must act out of charity to help those less fortunate. This is an amazing opportunity for us to come together and make a little sacrifice that could save lives. Please donate as much as you can. Thank you."

-Brian Gallagher, Class of 2010
